To write well, one must read. Well, I read avidly in three languages. And, as a translator since 2010, believe me – I have read lots more.

For engagement, one must be creative. One must have a flexible, quick, witty mind. And that’s who I am, thanks to lots of creative hobbies and a special talent for overthinking.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS As a localizer, I have been making foreign content suitable for the Brazilian consumers’ minds in a linguistically natural, efficient way. This is how I got interested in expanding my portfolio and writing content myself, after taking classes for that end.
  • CONTENT – That’s where the interpreter hat comes in handy. Throughout my career, I have been through countless fields of terminology, and in detail. Interpreters are supposed to have the power of speaking as if they belong to that industry. And, by speaking in the 1st person as if we were the speaker, interpreters get acquainted with all kinds of different ideologies.
  • REPERTOIRE – In terms of content for writing, the diversity of environments, industries and realities where I have interpreted gives me a considerable repertoire of first-hand experiences. Interpreters get to witness tons of moments forever inaccessible to most outsiders’. That + creativity = vast material for crafting realistic, compelling texts.
  • STRONG RESEARCH SKILLS – Having to learn whole new terminologies from scratch, over and over (and hopefully forever!) has trained me to become an efficient, experienced researcher. This allows me to explore not only terminology, but other aspects such as the proper register and discourse intentionality.
And, now, I can squeeze all that into compelling and creative writing!
